ボビーの声

Early on, a breakthrough for me was figuring out the key difference in how Robert and John F. Kennedy spoke. How they formed their words and where their voices emanated from. Bobby's voice changes as he becomes more emotional—a quality that did not happen to John's.

　RFKを演じたホームズさんは、俳優ならではの視点で、RFKの声について上のようにインタビューで語っています。

　JFKとRFKの声の出し方が違う（ケネディ大統領は喉の奥から、ボビーは口の前の方で発声）という指摘や、ボビーが感情的になると声が変わる（これは分かるなあ）が、JFKは変わらないことなどが、語られています。

RFK” has a scene in which Robert Kennedy is trying to make a television commercial for a political campaign. He struggles. In fact he’s terrible. But when RFK spoke off-the-cuff he was electrifying. He was a man who reacted and spoke from the heart, Holmes said.

　決められた原稿を読むような演説では精彩を欠くボビーが、準備なしで語ると、人を感動させ興奮させた、彼は心から行い語る人だったという、ホームズさんの言葉に、うんうんと頷く私。

　ここに指摘されているように、64年の上院選のテレビコマーシャルは悲惨でしたからねえ。（ホビーのスピーチを編集したビデオを持っていて、たまに見ますけど、そのビデオに収録されているこのコマーシャル作成で悪戦苦闘するボビーはいつ見ても気の毒というか、見ていられないです。それくらい、下手。）

　ロバート・マクナマラも自伝でも、映画「Fog of War」の本編ではカットされた部分（特典映像で見ることができる）においても、RFKは最初とっても演説が下手で（アマチュアだったという言い方をしてたと思う）、恥ずかしくて聞いていられないくらいだったと述べてますし、仕方ないですけれど。

　ま、南アフリカでのスピーチみたいに、感情がそこに乗り移っていれば、原稿ありでもばっちりですが。
